On the occasion of Frieze Los Angeles, Perrotin presents PAGING DR. FEELGOOD, a group exhibition in West Hollywood at the building that housed the original Spago restaurant.

For better and worse, Los Angeles has long been the beating heart of both the spiritual and lascivious sides of the health and wellness movement. We specialize in medical diagnoses from higher and lower non-medical sources, unregulated and mystically-practitioned medicine with added doses of weed, meth, cocaine, botox, and filler just for fun.

PAGING DR. FEELGOOD navigates the psychic and physical avenues that define this city from the frontal lobe of the Sunset Strip; it mainlines artworks by artists who cut their teeth near the frontlines of a distinctly West Coast legacy. Housed in MC+ Design Studio/Studio Dardo, which was once the original Spago restaurant building where Wolfgang Puck served the Hollywood and artworld elite, a stone(r)’s throw from the former location of Father Yod’s Source Restaurant, just down the street from where the Manson Family ran helter skelter, the 80s hair metal bands raged all night against the dying of the light, and now botulism clinics dot the map with promises of eternal youth, the exhibition is a case study in the aesthetics of the esoterics of literal and allegorical psychedelic surgeries with heavy anesthesia.

The opening reception will take place on Monday, February 23, from 7-10 pm. During the remainder of LA Art Week (Tuesday–Sunday), the exhibition will be open from 1-6 pm.

Concurrent with PAGING DR. FEELGOOD, the gallery will participate in Frieze Los Angeles at booth A07.

At Perrotin Los Angeles, Takashi Murakami presents Hark Back to Ukiyo-e: Tracing Superflat to Japonisme's Genesis until March 14. Through 24 new paintings, Murakami explores the relationship of Japanese movement Ukiyo-e to Impressionism and its lasting influence on the global art scene in the late 1800s. Accompanying the exhibition, through February 28, the gallery opened a store with limited editions by the artist.
