Born in 1995 in Les Abymes, Elladj Lincy Deloumeaux now lives and works between the Paris region and West Africa. Yet the memories of his native island of Guadeloupe are always with him, serving as recurring images in his work. Elladj recently completed a long residency in Ivory Coast and Senegal, and his work bears traces of the cultural fusion specific to the waters of the Black Atlantic.

With large light-filled canvases, Elladj Lincy Deloumeaux plunges us into the intimacy of a radiant artistic youth. Under the sky of a timelessly modern Dakar or during a summer visit to Mulhouse, he portrays a generation on the move, with an open mind towards the world and the Other. These porous individuals – whether it is the viewers themselves, photographer friends (Eva Diallo & Ange-Frédéric Koffi), or local acquaintances – are summoned in spirit and paint to the same table, that of the artist.

The organic entanglement of the bougainvillea that populate his paintings creates an image of multiplying offshoots, an archipelagic link the painter weaves between different territories, generations, and cultures. This effect is also produced by the lace pattern in the series Mody - Celui qui vient des deux mondes (Mody - He Who Comes from Both Worlds). Painted with a tighter chromatic range, the works Ôde à la mémoire (Ode to Memory) and Sans titre 2 (Untitled 2) push Elladj’s iconographic research even further, situated between West Indian and West African traditions.
